Question
When trying to dissolve the crystals, the solution remains cloudy. Why is this?
Answer
Our supplier has stated the following:We have made up a 1% soln in water and find it is cloudy which we think is due to the insoluble anti-caking agent( E504(ii) Magnesium bicarbonate @1.54%), which now seems to be added to all commercial material. However, on standing overnight, the solution did clear (presumably the anti-caking agent will have settled to the bottom).
